In 2018, audiences fell in love with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. What was planned as a six-week engagement became an 18-month phenomenon, earning the Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Musical and establishing itself as one of the most talked-about theatrical events of the decade.

Momentum for the production has never waned. Although plans for productions in Los Angeles with Center Theatre Group, a U.S. national tour, and international engagements in China and Australia were halted by the pandemic, audience demand has only grown stronger. That enthusiasm was powerfully reaffirmed in September 2025, when a concert version of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish played three sold-out performances at the 1,500-seat Soraya Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. In 2026, the production continues its resurgence with its Canadian debut at Toronto’s historic Elgin Theatre, running May 25–June 7.
